CONGRATULATIONS to the BCHS Speech and Debate team

CONGRATULATIONS to the BCHS Speech and Debate team members who excelled at last weekend’s league tournament at Modesto High School.  Sierra Pastor took first in Novice Original Advocacy and Bailey Kirkeby took home another first in Varsity Advocacy.  Jasmine Prasad placed 2nd in Varsity National Extemp speaking while Khaled Alameldin took home 2nd in Varsity Congress debate.   Varsity  Duo teams Richard Emiiko and Destiny Farley took 2nd and Joshua Ortiz and Donovan McDaniel placed 3rd.  ADDITIONALLY, the league awards the overall best competitor in each event (determined mathematically) over the season with the first of our 3 or 4 spots to the State Tournament in their event;  others then have to compete for it a spot at  a separate qualifier.  This year we auto-qualified students in 3 different events!  Bailey Kirkeby in Original Advocacy, the team of Khaled Alameldin and Richard Emiko in Parliamentary Debate and partners Richard Emiko and Destiny Farley in Duo Interpretation.  Richard was one of 2 students in the league to Auto-qualify in 2 events!  CONGRATS TEAM!  We’re SO PROUD YOU SPEAK FOR THE CREEK!
